“The agricultural sector is the backbone of Uganda's economy, accounting for almost 40 percent of GDP and employing more than 80 percent of the labour force - FAO 2006 ”.
Organic Perspectives appreciates that human activities particularly in agriculture are to a large extent the biggest threat to natural ecology. The use of agrochemicals for instance, not only degrades the natural biodiversity but also contaminates the environmental resources upon which the health of humans themselves is dependant.
Considering that the current global market is experiencing a decreasing demand for agricultural products (especially fresh foods) from countries where agrochemicals are widely used (Uganda inclusive), Organic Perspectives aims to take on a deep commitment towards researching the best organic and ecologically resilient practices in agriculture while also considering their economic viability.
In order to address the above critical challenge, Organic Perspectives was founded by three teachers at Mutekanga Memorial Primary School in Kamuli district-Uganda, East Africa.
